He's called her that so many times. Strong, brave. But she doesn't believe it now.

He has the same eyes.

The same big, sad blue eyes.

They look a bit different, of course. Slightly different color, less gray and more blue. Different face, with a pair of angry, owl-like eyebrows hovering over them. But more or less, they are the same, and she can still read them, much to his dismay.

She remembers the way he used to look at her. Before, when he was young. When he flirted with her, when he played with her. When he didn't mind being mistaken for her boyfriend. So much admiration. So much tenderness. She remembers him touching her more then. Her cheeks, her arms, the small of her back. All those sweet little joyful hugs. His actions, and a look in his eyes, and she could see. She could see how much he fancied her.

Now when he looks at her, she still sees admiration, but there's other things too. Hesistation. A bit of fear. Sometimes, anger, but that more or less comes as a side effect of his new personality. He doesn't really flirt with her anymore, though he does play with her now and then. Not as much touching, though, and usually if there's a hug, it's her who's giving it. Maybe with this new personality, and with his physical age, he feels all that is improper, or something of that sort. But every now and then, when he looks at her, she can see. The tenderness that once came through in his actions. The sweet man who used to sweep her up in his arms for a hug. He fancies her still, he's just hiding it, behind those big, sad blue eyes.
